Our understanding of JSC Team Member needs continues to evolve, and we are learning of additional ways you can help.  Please refer to the JSC Today Special sent out on Sept. 1 for contact information for the services mentioned below.

Donations Available for Delivery or Pick Up

Thanks to all who have provided donations to the Gilruth.  We have food and supplies available for pick up or delivery.

Volunteering Your Time for House Clean-Up

Additionally, you can volunteer your time directly to our Recovery Volunteer Coordinator. You can also offer your volunteer services.  As of now, there are several JSC Team Members who need assistance with home clean-up, so your time would be greatly appreciated.

What are the Needs?

Each civil service organization has an Employee Recovery Advocate, who is coordinating employee needs.  Our Contractor partners are also coordinating company responses, and those needs are being communicated to our Volunteer Coordinator for assistance.  If you know of a JSC Team member need, please contact the Hurricane Harvey Assistance Call Center.

Transportation — What’s Available?  What’s Needed?

We also know that many team members lost vehicles in Hurricane Harvey.  If you have transportation available—either a car you can loan someone or an offer to provide rides—or if you know of transportation needs, please indicate that in JSC’s Recovery Swap Shop or by contacting the Hurricane Harvey Assistance Call Center indicate what you have or what you need.

Gilruth Center Recharge & Refresh Station

As a reminder, our Hurricane Harvey Assistance Call Center is being staffed by volunteers daily during operations of the Gilruth Center Recharge & Refresh Station through Monday from 9 a.m. until 7 p.m.

Services available at the R&R Station include:

  • Safe water to drink
  • Showers (bring your own towels and toiletries)
  • Restrooms
  • Checklists and resource listings to help you with next steps of home recovery
  • Power strips available to recharge your cell phones and other electronics
  • Computer Stations to assist with filing Insurance Claims and other needs
  • Fitness & Cardio Center is open, as we encourage everyone to take care of themselves during this time

Employee Assistance Program

Employees experiencing emotional crisis can call our main number and they will be routed to one of our counselors. We will be providing stress debriefings to all JSC work groups in the coming weeks as people return to work.

FEMA Assistance

For FEMA assistance, registering online is the quickest. Go to www.DisasterAssistance.gov. If you do not have access to the internet you may register by calling 1-800-621-FEMA (3362) or 1-800-462-7585 (TTY). If you use 711 relay or Video Relay Service (VRS), call 800-621-3362 directly. The toll-free telephone numbers will operate from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. (local time) seven days a week until further notice.

Thanks for continuing to support your fellow JSC Team member on the road to recovery.
