The National Hurricane Center has issued a Tropical Storm Warning for the JSC area.

At 7AM CDT, the center of Tropical Storm Cindy was located at 27.5 N 92.2 W or about 220 miles SE of JSC. Cindy was moving NW at 8 MPH. Maximum sustained winds were 60 MPH. TS Cindy is forecast to make landfall near the TX/LA state line a few hours before sunrise tomorrow.

The major threat from Cindy is for very heavy rains well east and northeast of the center.  Some rain will wrap around the center of the storm and JSC will be near the edge of some 1 to 3 inch rain totals through Friday morning.  JSC could see some wind gusts to near tropical storm strength (35 to 40 mph) by this evening.  At this time the center of Cindy is forecast to move inland northeast of JSC so storm surge should be small.  Tides are running 1/2 to 1 foot above normal in Clear Lake and should begin to fall tomorrow so no surge impacts to JSC are expected.

Monitor the latest advisories on Cindy. The next advisory will be issued before noon CDT. Tropical Weather Info from National Hurricane Center: http://hurricanes.gov Hurricane Statement from NWS Houston/Galveston:
