The National Weather Service is continuing the Flash Flood Watch that includes JSC and vicinity until 7 a.m. Thursday. The center of Tropical Depression Imelda was located about 66 miles north of NASA’s Johnson Space Center at 2 p.m. this afternoon. Imelda was drifting north or north northeast at around 5 mph. The majority of rain bands had shifted east of JSC but new showers and storms look to be developing well west of Houston and JSC this afternoon. Additional showers and storms are possible this evening and tonight with an estimated 2 to 4 inches of rainfall possible through 7 p.m. Thursday.

Impact-wise at JSC that would generally be nuisance to minor street flooding and ponding of water for short durations. Heavier rain looks to remain north and east of JSC. Observed rainfall for yesterday and today: JSC Building 30, 8.34 inches and at NASA Ellington, 7.72 inches. Yesterday’s total of 6.49 inches was the 7th most daily total at JSC since 2000.
