At 4PM CDT, the center of Hurricane Delta was located at 22.1N 89.5W or 620 miles SE of JSC, moving NW at 17 MPH. Maximum sustained winds were 85 MPH.

After crossing the Yucatan peninsula today Delta has weakened but re-intensification is forecast tonight and tomorrow. A turn to the north and then north northeast is expected to occur late Thursday and Friday morning. Hurricane Delta is forecast to make landfall on the Louisiana coast late Friday afternoon.

A Tropical Storm Watch is in effect from San Luis Pass to High Island. Winds of tropical storm force (40+ mph) will be possible, primarily very near the Gulf beaches in the next 36 to 48 hours. The Watch may be upgraded to a Warning later tonight. Winds at JSC should increase Thursday night in the 20 to 30 mph range.  Rainfall is expected to be 1.25 inches or less from a far outer rain band. A Coastal Flood Watch is in effect for the Galveston Bay and Gulf shorelines.  Water near JSC in Clear Lake and Galveston Bay may rise 1 to 2 feet above normal tide levels late Thursday night and Friday morning. In general, impacts to JSC are expected to be minor to negligible from Delta.
