From the Spaceflight Meteorology Group: At 4PM CDT the center of Hurricane Delta was located 1t 24.8 N 93.4 W or 345 miles south southeast of JSC, moving northwest at 12 MPH. Maximum sustained winds were 115 MPH (category 3).  Delta is beginning a slow turn to the north.  The heading this morning was 305 degrees and this afternoon is 315 degrees.  A continued turn to the north northeast is expected tomorrow.  A little more strengthening is forecast tonight follow by some slight weakening right before landfall on the southwest Louisiana coast between early Friday evening.

Delta’s wind field is large in size.  A Tropical Storm Warning is in effect from Sargent to High Island.  A Hurricane Warning is in effect from High Island east into Louisiana.  Winds at JSC to 25 to 35 mph tomorrow afternoon with a few gusts to near 40 mph. Winds drop quickly Friday night.  Rainfall should be an inch or less at JSC.
