The National Weather Service has issued a Severe Thunderstorm Watch that includes JSC and vicinity until 7PM CDT today.

Showers and thunderstorms were increasing in coverage across southeast Texas this afternoon. Primary threats are hail and strong gusty winds. Storms will be moving to the northeast at around 30mph.

A cold front is expected to move through JSC between 10:30 and 11:30 this evening.  A line of thunderstorms will likely  accompany the frontal passage.

Winds will turn from the north and temperatures will begin to drop. The high temperature on Thursday should occur shortly after midnight and continue to fall. The Friday morning low should be in the mid 30s at JSC. Some light rain is possible Thursday night into very early Friday morning. There is a very, very small chance all cold air and timing of the disturbance bringing the clouds and precipitation could very, very briefly bring a wintry mix for an hour or two near Friday sunrise. This seems far more likely well west and southwest of JSC. Far more likely that our cold light rain chances end around 3AM Friday and amounts, if any, would be low.
