The National Weather Service has upgraded the Excessive Heat Advisory to an Excessive Heat Warning for the JSC area through 8PM.  At 1PM the heat index at NASA Elligton Field was 110 and so far at JSC has peaked at 107.

At 1PM the temperature at JSC Building 30 was 91 degrees, the same as 24 hours ago.  With fewer rain showers in the area today JSC should climb a few degrees more than yesterday so peak heat index values this after of 110 to 113 are possible.  At NASA Ellington Field and Sonny Carter the heat index should be in the 112 to 116 range.

The NWS issues an Excessive Heat Warning when the heat index is >= 113 or the temperature is >= 105 F. Please take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside.
