The National Weather Service has issued a Flash Flood Watch for the are effective from 1 pm today through Tuesday morning. Heavy rains are expected to develop just off the coast this morning and move inland later in the day. Another round of development is expected overnight into Tuesday morning. The main concern will be rainfall rates, not be the total amount of rainfall expected. Rainfall rates of 1-2 inches per hour are possible, which may cause street flooding in low lying areas. Rapid rises in creeks may occur, but water levels should remain within banks of bayous unless high rain rates persist for more than 2-3 hours.
