At 10 AM CDT, Subtropical Storm Alberto had formed at 19.7 N 86.8 W or 850 miles SE of JSC, moving NNE at 6 MPH. This is about 55 miles south of Cozumel, Mexico. Maximum sustained winds were 40 MPH.

Alberto is forecast to slowly move north through the weekend.  Alberto will emerge into the southeastern Gulf of Mexico by Saturday night and approach the north central Gulf coast on Monday.  Some gradual strengthening into a strong tropical storm is forecast by Monday.  With the current forecast track JSC is not expected to be impacted.  The primary hazard at this time appears to be heavy rains for the central Gulf coast late in the holiday weekend.
