From the National Weather Service:
Potential for heavy rainfall on Independence Day. Thunderstorm activity will also increase the threat for lightning and gusty winds for outside activities.
Thunderstorm activity is expected to increase across the area Tuesday night into Wednesday. Storms could be in SE Texas as early as Tuesday evening but more likely after midnight. Thunderstorm activity is expected to end Wednesday evening into the night but there is low confidence in that timing as sometimes these storms with tropical moisture linger longer.
Main hazards for storms Wednesday:
1 – heavy rainfall – some stronger storms could produce 1-2″ an hour.
2 – frequent lightning.
3 – Gusty winds with storms – generally 30-40 mph wind gusts.
