At 4:00 PM CDT, Thursday Jun 4th, Tropical Depression Cristobal was located at 17.5 N 90.8 W or 870 miles SSE of JSC, moving ESE at 3 MPH. Maximum sustained winds were 35 MPH.
TD Cristobal is forecast to make turn east and then northeast tonight. A north motion is forecast to begin tomorrow with a slow increase in forward speed. Cristobal should move back over the Gulf of Mexico Friday afternoon and slowly increase in strength. The center should make landfall on the northern Gulf Coast Sunday night as a tropical storm. The bulk of hazardous weather may be well east and northeast of the center. JSC is barely within the western edge of the error cone so continue to monitor the progress of the storm.
