From the Spaceflight Meteorology Group:

At 10AM CDT, Hurricane Laura was located at 27.0 N 92.0 W or about 260 miles southeast of JSC.  Laura was moving northwest at 16 MPH.  Maximum sustained winds were 125 MPH – category 3 status.

A gradual turn toward the north-northwestward and north is expected later today and tonight with the eye of Hurricane Laura making landfall near the Texas / Louisiana state line between midnight and 2AM as a category 4 storm.  Winds of 35 to 45 mph are likely for a few hours at JSC late this evening into the morning hours.

A small wobble west or expansion of the wind field would bring JSC into much stronger winds than currently forecast so continue to monitor the progress of Laura.

The next advisory will be issued this afternoon or if major changes occur.
