The National Hurricane Center has classified the tropical disturbance in the western Gulf as Tropical Depression Seven. There should be minimal impact to SE Texas.

This system should continue to track west towards Mexico over the next 2 to 3 days. It is forecast to become a tropical storm before landfall. Right now we are expecting limited impacts confined to marine interests and interests along the coast. We may see a few showers or storms from outer rain bands along the coast with gusty easterly winds, higher surf, elevated tides, and rip currents.

The Office of Emergency Management will continue to monitor the system, although no need for further updates is expected.
